Peter Three Eight The Pilot's Story
Peter Three Eight The Pilot's Story
This soft cover book, Peter Three Eight was published in 1991 by Pictorial Histories Publishing Company of Missoula, Montana. It was purchased new by me at a aces dinner and book signing in Tustin, California in 1992. It is in new condition, never read and stored since purchase. It tells the story with words and pictures of the P-38 and its pilots and missions. The author is John Stanway. This book is signed by eight pilots who flew the P-38. Some were aces and one awarded a silver star for one of the most unusual rescues behind enemy lines of a downed pilot in WW II.
Both of these pilots signed this book (Lt Andrews rescuer and Col. Willsie downed pilot). Also one of two pilots who were given credit for shooting down Admiral Yamanoto, Col Rex Barber. There is an eighth signature that I can not be sure as to who it is. These signatures add to the value of this wonderful book.
