The only bomber to fly throughout the war, the incredible Barnes Wallis Wellington - nicknamed 'the Wimpy' bore the brunt of Bomber Command's operations in the early part of the war. This rugged aircraft is portrayed by Robert Taylor on its way to Germany as part of one of the large scale raids in 1943. Wellington X HE-475 coded KW-E, failed to return from this bombing raid against Manehim. Sadly two of the five crew members were killed. Three others survived and became POW’s.
Published in 1980 this rare print shows Wellingtons of 425 Squadron RCAF, with the aircraft KW - E and KW - N clearly shown. Wellington X HE-475 coded KW-E. This superb prints carry the rare original signature of FLt/Lt Bill Townsend who passed away in April 1991. These were the only prints he signed personally.
