Lt. Hoagy Carmichael claims the Royal Navy’s first Jet victim - a communist M.I.G Fighter - Over Korea, 9th August 1952. This is believed to be the first recorded victory of a piston-engined aircraft over a jet fighter in the Korean war. For this action he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross.
