JV-44 SQUADRON OF EXPERTS
JV-44 SQUADRON OF EXPERTS
Commanded by Gen. Galland, JV-44 was manned by the most experienced pilots of the Luftwaffe, who flew the world's most advanced fighter in the defense of the Reich during the final desperate months of WWII. So brilliant was the collection of pilots that Galland recruited that the Knights Cross was referred to as the squadron badge. The combination of skilled, experienced pilots and an aircraft vastly superior to anything else in the air, gave the squadron immediate success. JV-44 Squadron of experts are pictured diving into attack at over 900 km per hour.
